Junior Division
Recognizing the natural delight young children have in dancing, emphasis is placed on teaching an understanding of space in relation to others and encouraging students to express themselves freely. Using a fun approach to dance, fundamental ballet techniques are gradually introduced to prepare students for more advanced training.
Students begin more structured training at the age of nine. Proper body alignment and physical discipline combined with the use of correct terminology and dance history are introduced to insure proper development. Jazz, an integral part of dance training, is introduced in Ballet 4 and 5. Ballet classes are held twice a week for ballet 4 and 5 while ballet 6 and 7 students attend three times per week. Jazz education continues with elementary jazz at this level.
The Senior Division offers intensive training in ballet and pointe to pre-professional and non-professional students. Classes are attended a minimum of four times a week.
Many adults in our community are discovering that dance is an excellent way to combine meaningful exercise with a deeper understanding of the technical aspects of ballet. Whether a beginner or a former student of dance we encourage you to join an Adult Ballet class and have fun learning the "art" of healthy living.
