ASMS Short Visits Abroad Program: Münster, Germany
The Alabama School of Math and Science has an exchange program with the Gymnasium Paulinum in Münster. Every year, two to four students from ASMS
stay in Münster with a host family for a full term and students from Münster come to Alabama. Students
who participate in this program may receive up to 1.5
CUs for German. Students interested in applying will have to show genuine interest
in the further pursuit of German at ASMS and will have to demonstrate overall
academic excellence. A junior planning to participate in the fall of his/her
senior year will have to have started the three-part AP Physics series in the
spring of junior year, for instance, in order to be able to finish by graduation.
Therefore, incoming sophomores are encouraged to strongly consider the program
for their junior year. There are many benefits to our exchange program, the
most obvious being the fluency gained in German in a relatively short period
of time. Participants have achieved high scores on the College Board Advanced
Placement (AP) exams, and often gained access into the college junior level
of their target language or have taken care of their college language requirement
entirely.
