First Physics Faculty at the Alabama School of Math & Science.
Responsible for developing Physics program at ASMS.
Established on site Radio Observational Research program with the help of Dr. Wheeler (ASMS Physics Faculty).
Established a research program at the University of South
Alabama along with Dr. Ashok Kumar (Assistant Professor, Department of Electrial Engineering).
Work closely with the University of Alabama, (Department of Material Science), University of Alabama at Birmingham (Department of Chemistry and Department of Physics), Auburn Univeristy, Auburn (Department of Material Science), and the University of South Alabama (Department of Electrical Engineering) to recruit ASMS students in researches every summer.
Won 3 years EPSCoR (Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research) grant from N.A.S.A (National Aeronautics and Space Administration).
Winning these research grants allows ASMS to join EPSCoR programs.
*ASMS is the only secondary school in these EPSCoR
programs.
The Alabama State Coordinator for the Alabama Science Bowl Competition which is limited to High School students. It is jointly sponsored by the Alabama School of Math and Science and the United States Department of Energy.
Conduct Research in Laser Processed Surface Modification, Coating and Thin Films, and growing CVD (Chemical Vapor Deposition) Diamond films with Dr. Ashok Kumar (Department of Electrical Engineering, Univeristy of South Alabama) at the state-of-the-art facility at USA.
Won a new 3-year join Grant (with Dr. Ashok Kumar) starting in the summer of 1999 from NSF to work on Nanostructured Materials for Navel Performance with Laser Assisted Methods.
