The Science of Ecology
Ecology is the study of connections. Students will gain an understanding of ecological systems. By pursuing a variety of projects, they will grow to understand tthe process of science, to design and evaluate experiments and scientific arguments, gain significant experience in field biological methods and experience hands-on biological research..

The first term (Ecology 1/2) concentrates on understanding the core concepts of ecology.
Students are introduced to the major themes of ecology, including systems, population, and community ecology and learn to evaluate simple ecological systems.
In the field, students visit many study sites and learn to use a range of equipment and measuring devices to gather and eveluate biological data.
The second term (Ecology 2/2) follows up on what we learned in Ecology 1/2.
We will use our acquired skills and information including:
a grounding in the foundations of ecology,
field methods and equipment, computer skills, and mathematical skills
to complete various projects in ecological science, and in reading, discussing, and writing about advanced topics in ecology.
