Birdwatching along the
Louisiana and Texas Gulf Coast

This special project will study the migrating birds and other wildlife of the Texas and Louisana Gulf Coast. Along the way we will sample the area's diverse human cultures.

The Gulf Coast is one of the most important conservation areas in the United States, and affords incomparable opportunities to see a large variety of birds, mammals, and habitats. April is especially important as millions of birds arrive from their winter range in South and Central America, one of the largest mass movements of wildlife on the globe. Students will have opportunities to sample Cajun, Hispanic, and Anglo Texan lifestyles and will be given a solid grounding in the basics for a potential lifetime interest in birds.
