Solid of Revolution Using a Hyperbola in VRML Cover Page

Adapted from a project by Keith Foster

The picture above is a snapshot of a model constructed using VRML (Virtual Reality Modeling Language) in which computer coding is translated by an Internet browser in order to view items in a virtual environment. If you have a VRML plug-in for your browser, you can click on the picture to see a model of the solid of revolution obtained by rotating the hyperbola Y = 1/x around the x-axis. The rotation leads to an improper integral. If the integral is evaluated from 1 to infinity, the volume approaches while the surface area increases without bound.
