Course Instructor: Susan Rouillier, M.S. in Computer and Information Sciences from USA, B.Sc. in Microbiology from Melbourne University, Australia.

• Exercise sets and project descriptions will be handed out in class.

References:

• Other sources including other texts, materials from libraries, magazine and journal articles should be sought out to supplement your assignments.

Grading Scale: A normal grading scale will be used:

F < 60.0 £ D < 70.0 £ C < 80.0 £ B < 90.0 £ A

Each member of the class will be responsible for completing several real-world projects using spreadsheets, presentation software, Internet research and other software.

Weights:

• Class Participation and attendance - 10%
• Daily Classroom Work = 40%
• Group Project = 20%
• Final personal project = 20%

  Attendance: Students are expected to be in class, on time, unless you have an excused absence for being sick or for attending an event. I am responsible for you during our class meeting time and you will want to be prompt and dependable. Three unexcused absences may result in a D for the class. If you are sick, please go to the nurse! Six absences as a combination of excused or unexcused may result in a D for the course. Any unexcused absence will result in a lowering of your Class Participation grade.
