Societé Honoraire de Français

The French Honor Society (Societé Honoraire de Français) is a national honorary organization, sponsored by registered members of the American Association of Teachers of French (AATF) through school-owned charters

At ASMS, the "Societé Honoraire de Français" recognizes dedicated and serious students of French. The SHF aims to further an interest in the study of French, promote high standards of scholarship, reward scholastic achievements, create enthusiasm for and an understanding of francophone culture and to perpetuate international friendship and solidarity.

It is both a true achievement and a nationally recognized honor to be inducted into the "Societé Honoraire de Français". By protecting the authenticity and quality of your AATF certificate of membership, your sponsor ensures your registration on the national roll and is professionally committed to national AATF and SHF guidelines in the evaluation and induction of each student. Your sponsor is furthermore responsible for maintaining and updating a membership roll on behalf of the school. She is guiding all honor society activities, planning, preparing and leading the yearly induction ceremony in the spring, ordering and awarding certificates, pins and senior cords and a paying member of the AATF.

French Honor Society activities at ASMS include "La table française" at meal times, community-wide French film screenings, organizing National French Day, spelling bee competitions, French cooking, celebrating French holidays throughout the year with the entire school community and participating in French cultural events in the Mobile area. Members also regularly offer tutoring.
