ASMS will be hosting the annual Alabama Regional Middle School Science Bowl this Saturday. This year is the 24th time ASMS has hosted the competition. ASMS will be hosting 19 teams from 12 schools from across the state of Alabama, and the winning team will get a free trip to Washington D.C. to compete in nationals.
“Seeing our student body come together to do this for our state is amazing,” says ASMS Senior and Science Bowl Head Lauryn Black. “I’m so proud to have been a part of making it happen.”
More than 50 students, faculty, and staff will be volunteering this weekend on campus.
“Science Bowl is an amazing opportunity for students across the state to utilize their vast knowledge through friendly competition,” says Science Bowl Head Allan Zhu.
ASMS Chemistry Instructor Kevin Dolbeare and Computer Science instructor Grey Gaillard help the students and communicate with the Department of Energy to make the competition run smoothly.
“Hosting the Science Bowl at ASMS offers a great opportunity for students to sharpen their science skills and get familiar with our campus,” says Mr. Gaillard.
