ASMS Teacher Wins Statewide Award Named After Former ASMS Instructor

At the 2024 NCWIT Aspirations Award Banquet, hosted by the University of Alabama Computer Science department on April 20, ASMS Computer Science instructor Ms. Deborah Gray was presented with the Dr. Albert Lilly Memorial Award. This award is issued annually to recognize an Alabama teacher for delivering exceptional Computer Science instruction to K-12 students.

ASMS Students Present Research at College English Association Conference in Atlanta

This March, two seniors in Dr. Mitch Frye’s video game studies project traveled to the 2024 College English Association Conference in Atlanta to present their research as part of a panel on innovative pedagogical methods. They presented their work to a room of college professors, instructors, and graduate students from around the nation.

ASMS Students Enjoy Weekly Volunteering at Dumas Wesley Community Center

For three years, ASMS has been partnering with the Dumas Wesley Community Center to assist with their youth program. Once a week, 5-10 ASMS students visit the center to assist in the After School Achievement Program (ASAP). ASAP provides STEAM workshops, tutoring help, and fun activities to school-aged children 5 days a week.
