Sisters Shayla Barnes-Holloway (1994) and Shannon Barnes Martin (Class of 1998) both graduated from ASMS within the first 5 years of the institution’s founding. Their stories remind us that each ASMS student is unique, and students graduate prepared to forge their own meaningful path.
Three Seniors Presented their Biochemistry Directed Research Project
Three ASMS Class of 2021 of seniors, Joy Buchi, Krusha Patel, and Emma Last, used a model system to study the effects of enzymatic cofactors (AKA vitamins) on the transport of select analgesics.

Announcing the 2021 - 2022 JBLA Cohort
We are pleased to announce that 48 students have been selected for the ASMS Jo Bonner Leadership Academy 2021 - 2022 cohort. They will begin their participation, training, and leadership through JBLA next school year. Congratulations students!

ASMS Students Win 1st Place at Alabama Sea Level Rise Hazards Summit
ASMS students Hailey Alexander, Cristan Mayhugh, Mari Swindle, and Katie Pack presented a sea level rise resilience plan to other school groups and sea level rise professionals as part of the inaugural Alabama Sea Level Rise Hazards Summit. They were awarded 1st place! They were taught and mentored by biology instructor Ms. Allison Rellinger.
