1989 Society

ASMS donors who include the school in their estate plans become part of the 1989 Society. The 1989 Society pays tribute to the founders of ASMS who gave generously with the long-term belief in the school and its future impact on students as well as the state, nation, and world. Learn more about how to become part of the 1989 Society below under the Planned Giving section.

One Time Donations

A majority of the gifts made to ASMS come in the form of cash, check, credit card, or wire transfer. A gift of cash entitles you to the most generous federal income tax deduction available for charitable contributions. You may deduct up to 50 percent of your adjusted gross income for gifts of cash and may carry any amount over that figure forward for up to five additional years.

Annual and Recurring Giving

No matter how much you give and no matter what area you support, every gift makes a difference in the lives of our students. Gifts designated to the ASMS Annual Fund provide support for immediate and ongoing needs that are not otherwise funded by the state. Gifts supplement the following areas:

  • Academics: From netbooks to microscopes–from field research to entrepreneurship academies—educating the state’s best and brightest requires an investment in faculty, equipment, technology, and programs.
  • Financial Assistance: Although ASMS is tuition free, no student should be precluded from participating in prom, field trips, AP tests, and other activities because their families can’t afford it.
  • Residential Life: Nearly 300 students call ASMS home-literally. Our counselors, hall directors, security staff, and student clubs make the school a true community to support their learning.
  • Athletics: Physical fitness is essential, even at a STEM-focused school. ASMS sponsors intramural sports and competes in AHSAA Class 2A volleyball, cross country, basketball, soccer, and tennis.
  • Facilities: Built at the end of World War II, our historic campus requires a significant annual investment in renovations and maintenance.
