A Way Forward - Wednesday August 5, 2020

This is primarily a letter to our students on the subject of balancing academic work and campus life, but other community members are welcome to read it as well.

Dear ASMS Community,

As ASMS begins its 30th school year, our priority is to deliver excellent educational opportunities while ensuring our students, faculty, and staff are as safe as possible during the COVID-19 global pandemic. Here are some final reminders and updates before school starts.

  • The 2020-2021 ASMS Community Standards Student Handbook is available on the ASMS policies and procedures page.
  • Submit all back to school fees and forms. Payment can be submitted via the Parent Dashboard on the financial tab. Forms can be submitted via the Parent Dashboard under forms.
    • Activity Fee: Students should pay their full or first installment of their Student Activity fee by move in day.
    • PSAT Fees: Sophomores and juniors should submit their PSAT form and pay their PSAT fee by move in day.
    • Graduate Fees: Seniors should submit their Graduation form and pay their Graduation fee by move in day.
  • Submit all COVID-19 forms (symptom check, procedure acceptance, waiver, and symptom quiz) required for move in. The deadline was yesterday, but we are leavingthe forms open until the end of the day today for those who had extenuating circumstances.
  • ASMS is moving away from a reliance on Facebook and will correspond via school funded and school-approved platforms in September.
    • Faculty and staff members will no longer be members of the Parent Association Facebook page. Those who need assistance should call or email the school directly.
    • The ASMS student Campus Life Facebook page will switch over to the Microsoft Yammer platform. It functions just like Facebook but in the Microsoft 365 suite.
  • If you have chosen the on-campus learning option for fall term, our first group of students will move in Friday. We cannot stress this enough - please be patient, flexible, and respectful at all times!

We are looking forward to a great year! I know that if we work together, we can make the most of challenging times. Please do not hesitate to reach out to the school if you have any questions or concerns: newsletter@asms.net. We are all in this together.

Sincerely,

John Hoyle, Ph.D.

President
