ASMS High School Research Team Awarded Federal NOAA Grant
A high school research team at the Alabama School of Mathematics and Science (ASMS) was selected to receive a federal grant from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). SMS Biology Department faculty members, Dr. Rebecca Domangue and Dr. Natalie Ortell, put together a team of 6 students who attend ASMS from across Alabama.

This year’s Alabama School of Mathematics and Science senior class is nothing short of exceptional. The Class of 2025 includes students from 31 different counties across the state of Alabama. We are so proud to share some highlights of their accomplishments with our school community!
ASMS Student is First Local Mobilian to win Top Prize at State Science Fair
Madeline Borchert is the first local Mobilian to win the top prize at the state of Alabama's science fair. Madeline is a junior at ASMS. In February, Madeline won the top prize at the Mobile Regional Science Fair and progressed to compete in the Alabama Science and Engineering Fair (ASEF) hosted at Auburn University.
ASMS President's List and Dean’s List Students Named for 24-25 Winter Term
Students on the President's List for winter 24-25 earned a Winter Term academic GPA of 4.0. Students on the Dean's List for winter 24-25 earned a Winter Term academic GPA of 3.99-3.7. Congratulations to these students!
Three ASMS Seniors Named 2025 National Merit Finalists
Officials of National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC®) announced the names of finalists in the 70th annual National Merit Scholarship Program, and 3 ASMS students have been named finalists. Congratulations to Yunseo Ha, Aiden Ray, and Julia Schwartz!
