ASMS Dragon Legacy Distinguished Alum Award and Lecture
The ASMS Alumni Council is pleased to announce the second year of the Alabama School of Mathematics and Science (ASMS) alumni award which will be presented at the ASMS Spring Research Forum on Friday, April 26, 2024.
ASMS is the starting point for long prestigious careers for its students. This annual award honors a member of the ASMS Alumni community who has distinguished themselves through their professional accomplishments, exhibits the values of ASMS, and has made an impact on Alabama or the nation. The awardee will be invited to ASMS to attend an awards ceremony and give the Distinguished Alumni Lecture in addition to meeting with students and faculty. The recipient will be chosen by an Awards Committee that consists of the Alumni Council Awards Committee as well as a representative of ASMS Leadership appointed by the ASMS President.
The ASMS Dragon Legacy Distinguished Alum Award and Lecture has three purposes:
To highlight and promote the contributions of ASMS alumni to their respective fields and beyond
To encourage alumni to remain active in the ASMS Community
To further cultivate the connection between ASMS Alumni and current students
To be eligible for the award, the nominee must meet the following criteria:
Be an ASMS graduate
Continue to exhibit ASMS values of the pursuit of understanding, discovery, innovation, and problem-solving
Have significantly impacted the state of Alabama and/or the nation through professional accomplishments
