ASMS BSU Hosts Townhall on Campus
ASMS’s BSU hosted a Townhall meeting to discuss the 2023 film “Descendants.” The film is a documentary on the descendants of Africans who were brought over on the last slave ship to come to the US, known as the Clotilda. The BSU officers invited Joycelyn Davis, who is a direct descendant of Clotilda survivors Charlie Lewis and Maggie Lewis.

ASMS Students Present Pop Culture and Literary Studies Research at Graduate-level Conference
Four ASMS students recently presented their pop culture and literary studies research at a conference primarily attended by graduate students and college instructors. They presented individual papers on a panel entitled “Hulk Studies: Gender and Politics in Marvel’s Hulk Media.”

Special Projects Week Makes for a Special Week at ASMS
ASMS offers students the opportunity to forge their own academic path. The school's annual Special Projects Week is a significant example of such an opportunity. Each year students take a 1-week break from their regularly scheduled course load to participate in a class with a special topic.
